It’s Beginning To Rain Lyrics

Chorus
It’s beginning to rain, hear the voice of my Father
He’s saying, “Whosoever will come drink of my water”
He’s promised to pour His Spirit out on your sons and your daughters
If you’re thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain

Verse 1
The turtle doves are singing sweet songs of morning
The leaves on the trees turn their silver cups to the sky
The silent clouds above are beginning to gather (yes, they are)
The barren land is thirsty, and so am I

Chorus
It’s beginning to rain, hear the voice of my Father
He’s saying, “Whosoever will come drink of my water”
He’s promised to pour His Spirit out on your sons and your daughters
If you’re thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain

Verse 2
At that first drop of rain that you start to hear, throw open the windows
Go call all your children together, and throw wide the door
When the rains of the Spirit are starting to fall, fill every vessel
He who drinks his fill will thirst no more

Chorus
It’s beginning to rain, hear the voice of my Father
He’s saying, “Whosoever will come drink of my water”
He’s promised to pour His Spirit out on your sons and your daughters
Listen now, if your thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain
Sing it again

Chorus
It’s beginning to rain, hear the voice of my Father
He’s saying, “Whosoever will come drink of my water”
He’s promised to pour His Spirit out on your sons and your daughters
Listen to me now, if you’re thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain
If you’re thirsty and dry, look up to the sky, it’s beginning to rain

Notes

To a Christian, the “rain” symbolizes the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. The Father’s invitation, “Whosoever will,” echoes God’s open call to salvation and spiritual renewal.

Just as dry land longs for rain, the human soul longs for God’s presence. The gathering clouds and singing doves suggest hope and awakening. When the Spirit begins to “rain,” believers are urged to open their hearts (“throw open the windows”) and receive fully.

Filling every vessel means being completely receptive. Those who drink deeply of God’s Spirit find lasting satisfaction, echoing Christ’s promise of living water that quenches spiritual thirst forever.
